Access/One Networks EWS 150

Strix Systems Access/One® Network Edge Wireless System (EWS) 150 is the industry’s highest power, highest performance, wireless (WiFi) mesh network Edge device that brings the high throughput, low latency and mesh network resilience of Strix Systems Access/One Outdoor Wireless System (OWS) to residential, small business and strategic applications.

Proven by carriers, municipalities, public safety agencies and enterprises, Strix EWS 150, powered by Strix Dynamic Mesh Network Architecture (Strix DMA™) which drives the largest and most scalable wireless mesh networks in the world, is the highest performance mesh network “Edge” extension delivering an industry-first ~forty-fold~ increase in power in comparison to laptops and other CPE.

Unparalleled in the industry, the EWS 150 offers the longest reach of any indoor wireless mesh network CPE on the market today.  The EWS 150 is a multi-megabit, multi-RF, multi-channel mesh extension of the outdoor mesh network.  It establishes a high-performance connection utilizing dual-diversity and its greater signal strength, the network is quickly detected, optimal channels determined then client connection secured utilizing Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA2).

Thousand deployed around the world by service providers and systems, the EWS 150 set a new standard for low-cost high-powered end-user wireless CPE which embraces the power of the larger mesh network including VLANs, quality of service (QoS) for voice, video, data, and delivers them at high-speed right to the end-user.  Industry-first capabilities include support of multiple VLANS with quality of Service (QoS), the greatest number of VLANS over a single SSID, VLANS over Ethernet and enhanced VLAN management, configurable minimum and maximum data rate range provides enhanced control for network performance engineering.

Strix Systems continues to drive high-speed seamless mobility with a dramatic reduction in high-speed hand-off time in comparison to any fixed and mobile CPE enabling the highest performance to achieve the highest-speed and highest performance zero packet loss node-to-node transitions for virtually any application.

The compact EWS 150 is complimentary to any Strix Access/One OWS deployment, the EWS 150 is self configuring, participates in interference mitigation, is network resiliency, and offers built-in troubleshooting tools and is remote upgradeability for the most demanding environments.

Access/One Networks Edge Wireless Systems (EWS) 100

The EWS-100 dual radio access device provides simplified high performance connectivity between an outdoor Wireless Wide Area Network (Strix OWS nodes), an indoor Local Area Network (LAN), and/or an indoor Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN). The EWS-100 consists of 802.11g or 802.11a for Station-side connectivity to outdoor wireless mesh, 802.11a or 802.11g for indoor Access Point functionality with automatic address assignment to clients, provides an Ethernet connection for multiple PC’s and devices such as multimedia gateways etc., remote management functions for WISPs and is completely plug-n-play for the subscriber.

The EWS-100 is a CPE-type device specifically targeted to metropolitan WISPs who are offering low-cost residential service. In many cases, city-wide wireless coverage does not provide a signal path to/from the inside of residential dwellings that is sufficient for commonly available consumer wireless network interface devices. The EWS-100 overcomes this with higher transmitter power and higher-gain antennas. The EWS-100 also provides management features required for residential deployments including remote software upgradeability, rate limiting, and performance monitoring / history.

  • The EWS-100 is based on direct input from our service provider customers, providing them the high performance advantage of Strix Wireless Mesh Networks.
  • The EWS-100, powered by Strix DMA, is unique by its ability to provide simple plug-in connectivity utilizing layer 2 NAT from the service provider and providing high performance levels, both in network connectivity and throughput while also enabling seamless roaming.
  • The ability to provide seamless roaming is a significant achievement in that it enables devices such as dual mode phone supporting wifi to roam from inside a home or business to the outside mesh. Today the EWS and Strix Wireless Mesh Network can maintain a VoIP call with excellent quality while transitioning from the home, to the car and down the street.
  • The EWS-100 is the wireless extension of the mesh network into residences and businesses. It offers 2 radios, both A and G providing up to 108Mb/s connectivity, either of which can be configured to extend to the wireless mesh and provide connectivity multiple PCs and devices like multimedia gateways, Voice Over IP phones etc.
  • The EWS-100 is managed by the service provider and as new features come available, software updates are transferred by the service into the EWS-100. No end-user interaction is required.
  • The need for unit is purely directed at providing the ultimate high performance advantage of Strix wireless mesh.
Statement of RoHS compliance
Strix Systems, Inc. is actively concerned about the impact of our business on the global environment. One result of our ongoing initiatives to practice environmental responsibility is compliance with the European Union's Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive, 2002/95/EC.

This compliance is achieved by elimination or reduction to below specified limits of the following materials: Lead (Pb), Cadmium (Cd), Mercury (Hg), Hexavalent Chromium (Cr+6), Polybrominated Biphenyls (PBB), and Polybrominated Diphenylethers (PBDE).

As part of an ongoing process, Strix System's substitutes, in all possible cases, lead-free components for those containing lead. Until such time as reliable lead free components and soldering processes are available, Strix Systems will use the lead free exemption as outlined in the 2002/95/EC Directive and Annexes. Strix Systems continues to work with its suppliers and performs necessary research with the intention of transitioning to entirely lead-free products.
